Job summary

Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. is seeking dedicated Support Staff and Floating Support Staff to join our Head Start locations throughout Steuben and Yates Counties.

As a valued member of our organization, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and development of children in a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. Responsibilities include supervising classroom activities, guiding social-emotional development, and collaborating with staff to implement routines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel within service area.
• Basic organizational and math skills.
• Effective communication and language skills to understand and convey information.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel).
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage with children during classroom activities, including indoor and outdoor play, group instruction, circle time, mealtimes, and clean-up.
• Support children's social and emotional development by providing positive guidance and encouragement.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, and stimulating learning environment.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to implement planned activities and routines.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
• Perform basic administrative tasks, such as using office equipment and maintaining classroom organization.
• Travel between Head Start locations within Steuben and Yates Counties as needed.

• Successful completion of a background check is required.

Compensation

$16.00 - $16.25 per hour (10- or 12-month positions available, depending on location)
