Job summary

State of Missouri's St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center is seeking a positive Support Care Assistant to provide first-level direct patient care on inpatient units.

You will help residents with daily tasks, support therapeutic activities, and work with the health care team to maintain a safe, healing environment. The position requires physical ability (lift 45 lbs, 400-yard mobility, CPR kneeling), strong teamwork, and at least one year of related experience or self-employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic non-professional psychiatric and general nursing work.
• Work involves establishing effective interpersonal relationships with residents, co-workers and other members of the health care team.
• Contributing to the maintenance of a therapeutic environment.
• Rendering basic nursing care.

Eligibility

• Able to lift 45lbs vertically from floor to shoulder height
• Run, walk or jog a distance of 400 yards
• Pull 45lbs at least 20 feet
• Kneel on floor to perform CPR
• Implement crisis intervention techniques and emergency treatment procedures.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and team building abilities.
• One or more years of work experience or self-employment.
• Possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
