Job summary

The Missouri Department of Mental Health is hiring a Food Service Assistant at the St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South. The role involves preparing and serving meals to patients and staff in line with dietary guidelines, and maintaining sanitation of equipment and dining areas.

Evening hours include a $2.00/hour differential. Excellent state benefit package includes health vision dental, paid life insurance, retirement, holidays, and leave.

Qualifications

• No disciplinary action in last 12 months.
• Hepatitis A vaccination (or willingness to receive).
• Possess a valid driver's license (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food to patients and staff in accordance with dietary guidelines.
• Operates and sanitizes food service equipment.
• Monitors temperatures of stored and serving foods and sanitation equipment.
• Cleans serving and dining areas and moves furniture as needed for cleaning.
• Transports food from preparation to serving areas using carts and motorized equipment.
• Follows hazardous chemicals procedures per MSDS and supervisor instructions.
• Attends work per facility policies and may work overtime to ensure staffing coverage.
• Completes competency training to meet accreditation standards.
• Physical ability to lift 20-30 pounds, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Job description

Food Service Assistant

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Food Service Assistant who has an interest in helping those with mental illness maximize their potential. There is a $2.00 an hour differential for evening hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food to patients and staff in accordance with established dietary guidelines and policies.
• Operates and assures sanitation of food service equipment including steam tables, refrigerators, dish machines, etc.
• Monitors and maintains temperatures within prescribed limits of stored foods, serving line foods, and sanitation equipment.
• Disassembles serving line and cleans/sanitizes serving and dining areas. Moves dining room furniture and serving equipment to facilitate thorough cleaning.
• Transports food from preparation area to serving areas using carts and motorized vehicle.
• Knows and understands procedures for use of hazardous chemicals in compliance with material safety data sheets and supervisor's instructions.
• Attends work according to facility policies and works overtime or other shifts in order to assure adequate staff coverage.
• Successfully completes initial and continuing competency training in order that the facility can meet accreditation standards.
• Physical needs: Be able to lift 20-30 pounds, bend at waist, and stand for extended periods.
