Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Manager Trainee for May 2027 to learn management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will ensure safe, timely freight movement, load assignment, and strong customer service while training to comply with DOT regulations and company policies. You will develop skills in fleet optimization, driver training, payroll, reporting, and coordination with drivers, customers, and internal teams to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain or related field (or HS Diploma with 1 year management experience)
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure onboarding and productivity
• Fill in for absent staff and support special projects for fleet optimization and profitability
• Learn personnel management including driver training and orientation across internal and customer systems
• Assist in budgeting, reporting, and presenting customer reports and financial analysis
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment
• Learn payroll, driver relations, and invoicing while ensuring compliance and safety
• Assist with yard operations, maintenance scheduling, and safety compliance
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes
• Maintain Company safety culture through regular safety messages and training
• Plan loads, monitor freight, and adjust to changes while meeting customer deadlines
