Job summary

JB Hunt in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Manager Trainee for May 2027. Under supervision, you will learn the management of a small driver count, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and best-in-class customer service.

You will be trained to ensure DOT compliance, manage payroll and budgeting, plan routes, monitor freight, and collaborate with drivers and customers to optimize operations and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier setup
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability
• Learn to manage driver training and orientation, including internal and customer systems
• Assist in achieving profitability by maximizing fleet efficiency and presenting customer-specific reporting and financial analyses
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment in market
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and preparing financial/operational reports
