Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Supply Chain Manager in Frederick, MD to lead inventory control, purchasing procedures, and cross-functional collaboration across manufacturing sites. You will supervise Buyers and other staff, drive metrics, and improve on-time production while reducing on-hand inventory.

Requirements include 5+ years in contract manufacturing, supervisory experience, strong Excel/Access skills, and a proven track record in negotiating with suppliers and optimizing supply chains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor50s degree and five years of directly related experience in contract manufacturing industry.
• Must have prior supervisory experience & strong people management skills.
• Must have significant experience with inventory control, logistics, materials requirement planning, supply chains, contract negotiations, and purchasing.
• High level of comfort with supply chain and inventory management systems.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
• Extreme proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coach a team of Buyers, Engineering Production Services, Quoting Specialist and Proposal Administrator.
• Develop team with goals/metrics and track progress with emphasis on professional development.
• Maintain inventory levels to ensure on-time production while minimizing on-hand inventory.
• Drive for increased inventory turns.
• Explore for new suppliers and processes to achieve quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
• Provide management with data/metrics to drive continuous improvement and decision making.
• Remain current on industry trends and notify team of potential issues.
• Manage the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP).
• Manage supplier relationships, lead negotiations, and track quality, price and delivery metrics.
• Modify processes for shipping, receiving, transport, and inventory control to reduce waste and increase throughput.
• Interface with Program Managers on planning and forecasting to meet shipments.
• Ensure standard practices are followed in materials/departments.
