Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations.
  • Ensure development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably, in line with company policies.
  • Implement and report on ongoing cost‑saving measures, providing ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Manage operations to achieve objectives, applying sound communication and motivational techniques, and supervising, counseling, and disciplining team members as needed.
  • Provide direction and support to Human Resources, assisting in hiring, training, and professional development programs.
  • Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities for warehouse staff.
  • Plan daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, plan reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing as required.
  • Train new staff or delegate training to experienced team members, assessing progress and adding duties as appropriate.
  • Monitor quantity and quality of jobs performed, offering guidance and advice as necessary.
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower‑level staff.
  • Inform manager of progress or problems needing attention on a daily basis and hold regular meetings with staff to assess overall status.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed.
  • Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
  • Maintain high motivation in team members to focus on delivering customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Skills & Abilities
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role.
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
  • Completion of a forklift training program.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • RF scanners.
  • WMS functions.
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Business communication.
Mathematical Skills

Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing and distributing client products.

Physical Demands
  • Bending occasionally.

  • Reaching above shoulder, squatting or kneeling.
Work Environment

The employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually low to moderate.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected base pay range is $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 annually, subject to experience, skills, education, certifications and geographic location.
