A billion-dollar commercial contractor with a strong Austin presence is hiring an experienced Superintendent to lead technically complex work for sophisticated, repeat clients. Projects combine high-end interiors with heavy MEP systems, chillers, generators, emergency power, equipment yards, underground utilities and exterior civil construction, often within active corporate, healthcare or manufacturing campuses. The company offers the financial strength and resources of a major national builder while continuing to operate through focused teams, fast decisions and direct access to local leadership.
The Opportunity
You will have full responsibility for field operations from preconstruction and mobilization through commissioning, turnover and closeout. The company is looking for a complete builder who can understand every scope, lead the entire subcontractor team and anticipate problems before they affect the client or schedule.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful projects, not operate as one of several area superintendents responsible for a single trade package.
What You’ll Own
- Lead daily field operations, safety, quality and subcontractor performance
- Participate in preconstruction, constructability reviews and site-logistics planning
- Build, maintain and communicate the master construction schedule
- Develop short-interval and three-week look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate civil, structural, architectural and MEP trades
- Manage chillers, generators, switchgear, controls and other critical building systems
- Plan shutdowns, utility tie-ins and work within occupied or operational facilities
- Oversee underground utilities, exterior equipment yards and sitework
- Lead subcontractor, foreman and coordination meetings
- Work closely with the Project Manager on procurement, changes and project risks
- Communicate directly with clients, architects, engineers and facility representatives
- Coordinate inspections, testing, startup and commissioning
- Drive punch-list completion, turnover and final closeout
- Mentor Assistant Superintendents and junior field staff
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
- Background in advanced manufacturing, corporate campuses, laboratories, healthcare, mission critical or complex commercial renovations
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and controls systems
- Experience coordinating chillers, generators, emergency power or central-plant equipment
- Understanding of exterior civil work, underground utilities and site logistics
- Experience working in occupied or operational environments
- Strong scheduling, drawing-reading and subcontractor-management skills
- Ability to communicate confidently with clients and design teams
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal direction
- OSHA 30 and experience with modern construction-management platforms preferred
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Join a financially secure contractor surpassing $1 billion in annual revenue
- Lead technically challenging projects for major repeat clients
- Work with lean teams where Superintendents have genuine authority
- Direct access to local operations and executive leadership
- Minimal bureaucracy and a culture built around trust and accountability
- Strong Austin backlog with multiple field-leadership hires planned
- Long-term advancement potential as the local operation continues to grow
- Competitive compensation and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, retirement and paid-time-off benefits
This position is built for a confident, low-ego Superintendent who knows how to run the entire job, earns the respect of subcontractors and wants to be trusted—not micromanaged.
