Job description

Job Summary

A growing, nationally recognized general contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead commercial construction projects throughout the Austin, TX market. This is a true field leadership role for a Superintendent who enjoys being on the jobsite, coordinating subcontractors, driving schedules, solving field issues, and taking ownership of daily construction execution.

This opportunity offers the stability and resources of an established contractor with more than 80 years in the construction industry, along with the visibility and career growth potential of an expanding Central Texas operation. The team supports a collaborative field environment with strong project leadership, professional development opportunities, and room for long-term advancement as the Austin project portfolio continues to grow.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on Superintendent with general contractor or construction management experience across commercial projects such as K-12 education, healthcare, industrial, multifamily, institutional, office, or similar construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through closeout.
  • Coordinate subcontractors across multiple trades, including sequencing, site logistics, workflow, and daily construction activities.
  • Drive project schedules, milestones, inspections, and field execution in partnership with the Project Manager.
  • Lead jobsite safety meetings, enforce safety expectations, and maintain strong QA/QC standards.
  • Communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Identify field issues, schedule risks, and constructability concerns, then develop practical recovery or resolution plans.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range: $75,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience and project background.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Additional benefits include life insurance, HSA/FSA options, 401(k), paid time off, paid holidays, tuition assistance, and employee referral incentives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Lead full construction site operations for commercial projects from mobilization through closeout.
  • Manage subcontractor coordination, trade sequencing, inspections, safety, and quality control.
  • Drive project schedules, resolve field issues, and maintain daily progress in alignment with project goals.
  • Mentor Assistant Superintendents and other field personnel while supporting a strong jobsite culture.
  • 6 to 10 years of construction field experience required, with approximately 7 to 15 years strongly aligned with the target background.
  • Experience working for a General Contractor or Construction Manager.
  • Proven experience as a lead Superintendent through multiple complete project cycles.
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects, ideally in the $10M to $75M+ range.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractor trades across the full construction site.
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling, safety practices, QA/QC standards, inspections, and field problem-solving.
  • Experience with construction technology such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable tools.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Hands-on field leadership style with a clear desire to remain on the Superintendent and field operations career track.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with K-12, higher education, healthcare, institutional, industrial, multifamily, office, or similar commercial construction projects.
  • Background supporting projects in the Austin or Central Texas construction market.
  • Experience mentoring Assistant Superintendents, foremen, or field staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex site logistics on active commercial jobsites.
  • Full-site Superintendent experience preferred over single-trade supervision limited to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or another individual trade.
