Qualifications

  • AA/2-year degree or 3–4 years related experience; or equivalent.
  • Degree preferred in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Pesticide Application License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
  • Plan, organize, and direct maintenance and construction of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervise planting and cultural practices for turf grasses, trees, and ornamentals.
  • Ensure maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
  • Procure supplies within budgetary limits.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and costs; prepare reports.
  • Implement purchasing procedures with preferred vendors.
  • Reconcile and code invoices, payroll, and related documents.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure training and licensing for associates; address environmental concerns.
  • Ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Manage department members including supervisory staff.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing training for new associates.
  • Maintain regular attendance; promote safe work practices.

Overview

Oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensures that turfgrass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Experience Required

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to four years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Pesticide Application License.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
  • Ensure that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
  • Procure supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
  • Maintain records of annual maintenance activities and costs; prepare reports.
  • Implement sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
  • Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensure that all associates obtain proper training and licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations, and directly address environmental concerns.
  • Ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals and fertilizers used on the course.
  • Manage department members including Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
  • Ensure effective orientation and training are provided to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
