Twice is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Golf Course Maintenance to support agronomic direction and daily course operations in Kansas City, MO. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in golf course maintenance, a pesticide license or near-term completion, and the ability to lift 100 lbs. Weekend and holiday work is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
  • Current State Pesticide Applicators License or completion within 90 days.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of golf course operations and equipment.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Availability for weekends and holidays.
  • Outdoor work in extreme heat/cold and humidity.

Job description

Overview

The Assistant Superintendent supports the daily operations of the Golf Course Maintenance department, including turfgrass and plant material maintenance, property and asset management, and expense forecasting. This role also schedules and maintains irrigation systems, applies pesticides, keeps accurate records, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements as directed by the Superintendent.

Experience Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
  • Current State Pesticide Applicators License or successful completion within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Preferred associate degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • General knowledge of business administration practices and golf course operations procedures.
  • Strong technical knowledge of equipment, products, and resources related to Golf Course Operations.
  • Ability to implement resources to meet or exceed company and club standards.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme hot or cold temperatures and humidity.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs.
  • Availability to work scheduled hours, including additional hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist the 1st Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent in providing agronomic direction for the healthy growth of grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials on the golf course and clubhouse grounds.
  • Coordinate the application and documentation of chemical treatments, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support oversight of the crew, including scheduling and assigning tasks as directed.
  • Provide hands‑on training to employees in technical skills, operations, and safety in accordance with OSHA standards and club protocols.
  • Ensure the safe use and proper maintenance of golf course mechanical equipment.
  • Assist in implementing maintenance programs established by the 1st Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent.
  • Participate in regular meetings with management and staff to review operations, maintenance, golf activities, and safety and environmental concerns.
  • Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Follow company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain professionalism and commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Follow safe working practices and encourage others to do the same.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources and coordinate with regional and corporate teams.
