Job summary

Talently in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, and education projects. You will drive safety, quality, and on-site execution from early construction through closeout, collaborating with owners, contractors and vendors.

This role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and problem-solving skills; you will mentor teams, manage plans, and ensure work is performed to contract and regulatory

Qualifications

• 5+ years on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Experience delivering high-rise, mixed-use, higher education or similar projects.
• Degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
• At least two years leading construction teams.
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, contracts, and personnel management.
• Ability to lead field operations and communicate plans to diverse audiences.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety regulations.
• Strong problem-solving, accountability, adaptability, communication, and relationship-building.

This opportunity offers an experienced Superintendent the chance to lead field operations, drive safety and quality, and guide projects from early construction through successful closeout. Based onsite in Richmond, Virginia, you will collaborate with project stakeholders while developing high-performing teams and delivering exceptional results.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the timely, high-quality installation of contracted work across assigned projects, scopes, or trade contractors.
• Establish and maintain a strong culture of safety and quality through regular inspections and compliance with company, contract, and government regulations.
• Create and manage plans for work sequencing, jobsite logistics, materials, and personnel.
• Develop, update, and communicate project schedules while maintaining command of critical milestones.
• Take ownership of project execution to deliver work on schedule, within budget, and according to established standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop team members while building strong relationships with owners, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain working knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, vendor agreements, project costs, staff charts, and key performance indicators.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion and building operations training.

Must-Have Skills:

• 5 or more years of experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Successful experience delivering high-rise residential, mixed-use, higher education, commercial, or similarly complex projects from start to finish.
• Degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least two years of experience leading, developing, and motivating construction teams.
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and personnel management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field operations and communicate plans effectively with diverse project audiences.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and applicable safety and building regulations.
• Strong problem-solving, accountability, adaptability, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work onsite in active construction environments, including variable weather, elevated or confined areas, uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and moderate to loud noise levels.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with construction management platforms including Procore, PlanGrid, Fieldwire, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6.
• Experience managing retail, school, multifamily, or other highly coordinated occupied or complex facilities.
• Knowledge of project cost controls, general conditions, staffing plans, and construction performance metrics.
• Experience leading punch list, turnover, building operations training, and project closeout activities.
• Ability to thrive in a high-performance environment and provide flexibility during critical project phases or time-sensitive issues.
