Qualifications

Lead Superintendent

Position Overview

The Lead Superintendent will direct and manage on-site construction operations for high-rise and mid-rise projects, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to specified quality standards. This role leads field crews and subcontractors, coordinates trades and logistics, enforces compliance with plans and regulations, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact for project stakeholders to deliver successful, timely building completions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of field crews, subcontractors, and site personnel on high-rise and mid-rise projects.
• Develop, maintain, and drive the construction schedule; coordinate phased work and critical path activities to meet milestones and handover dates.
• Implement and enforce company and regulatory safety programs (including site safety plans and toolbox talks); promote a proactive safety culture.
• Coordinate trade contractors, suppliers, and logistics to optimize sequencing and minimize rework or delays.
• Review drawings, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings; ensure work is installed per plans, specifications, and approved changes.
• Conduct quality control inspections, manage punch lists, and resolve construction defects with a focus on first-time quality.
• Monitor labor productivity, material usage, and equipment to manage costs and support budget control; identify and document potential change orders.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, site documentation, and progress reporting for stakeholders.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and approvals with authorities having jurisdiction and third-party inspectors.
• Mentor and train superintendent and foreman staff; drive continuous improvement in field performance and team development.
• Serve as the on-site client and consultant liaison, communicating progress, risks, and mitigation plans professionally and promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of construction field experience with at least 4 years as a Superintendent on high-rise or mid-rise projects.
• Proven experience managing complex multi-trade construction sites, schedules, and subcontractor relationships.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, structural, MEP, and finishing trades for vertical construction.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Working knowledge of construction scheduling and management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, PlanGrid) and basic BIM coordination experience preferred.
• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30) and a track record of maintaining safe jobsite conditions.
• Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel between sites as required.
