Senior Superintendent
Based in Virginia, we are a top-rated construction management and development firm delivering complex commercial, healthcare, higher education, science and technology, multifamily, and mission-critical construction projects.
We're seeking a Senior Superintendent with a passion for building and a proven track record leading large-scale construction projects from groundbreaking through turnover. This role will serve as the primary field leader responsible for safety, quality, schedule performance, subcontractor coordination, and successful project execution.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead all onsite construction activities for complex commercial construction projects
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
- Drive project schedules, sequencing, logistics planning, and three-week look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate daily field operations in partnership with Project Managers and project leadership teams
- Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship quality, productivity, and schedule compliance
- Implement and enforce project-specific quality control procedures and company standards
- Lead jobsite safety programs, inspections, investigations, and corrective actions
- Conduct subcontractor preconstruction meetings, coordination meetings, and daily planning sessions
- Maintain project documentation including daily reports, safety reports, incident reports, delivery logs, and progress updates
- Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, schedule challenges, and constructability concerns
- Support project startup, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities
- Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and field personnel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent construction experience
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
- Proven experience leading field operations on large-scale construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, site logistics, and subcontractor management
- Experience managing project safety, quality control, and field coordination activities
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to mentor and develop project teams
- Willingness to travel periodically as project needs require
