Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Line Attendant to support the culinary team with high-volume food preparation and service. You will maintain a clean, organized kitchen and ensure safety standards while assisting in meal service for participants and staff.

The role requires availability on weekends and mornings, with experience in general kitchen operations, sanitation, and equipment handling. CPR/AED/First Aid certifications are essential within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Formal education, usually a High School Diploma/GED, or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
• Experience in general kitchen operations, including food handling, portion control, and use and care of basic equipment and utensils.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire from an approved organization.

Responsibilities

• Executes high-volume prep work, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning vegetables, fruits, and proteins according to recipe specifications.
• Maintains HACCP guidelines and safety protocols to ensure a sterile and hazard-free kitchen environment.
• Sets up and maintains the salad bar, ensuring ingredients are fresh, labeled, and presented well.
• Serves meals to participants and staff with emphasis on portion control and speed of service.
• Washes, sanitizes, and stores dishes, glassware, utensils, and industrial cooking equipment.
• Assists with receiving and unloading deliveries, rotates goods using FIFO.
• Disposes of trash, recycling, and organic waste promptly and keeps disposal areas clean.
• Collaborates with cooks and supervisors to adjust priorities during peak service times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
