Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory is offering a Software Engineering Intern role in Maryland to design, build, test, and improve mission planning software used in defense operations.

You will work with engineers, scientists, and developers, gaining hands-on experience with modern software practices, automated testing, containerization, and DevSecOps, while exploring the operational challenges faced by the U.S. military and contributing to critical national defense missions.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/SE or a closely related field.
  • GPA 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Experience with one or more listed programming languages.
  • Enjoy solving technical problems and learning new technologies.
  • Experience on team-based software projects and effective communication.
  • Willing to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and improve mission planning software.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and developers on multiple domains.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and agile activities.
  • Learn modern software engineering practices including automated testing and DevSecOps.
  • Gain exposure to security clearance processes and defense implications
