Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites talented students to join as Software Engineering Interns in Laurel, MD. You will work with experienced engineers to design, build, test, and improve mission planning software used to support U.S. military operations.

Mentorship and hands-on experience with modern software practices will be provided throughout the summer. You will contribute to projects across Ballistic Missile Defense, Air Warfare, and Hypersonic Defense,

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
GPA 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Experience with one or more programming languages listed in skills.
Able to communicate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
Willing to obtain required security clearances.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and improve mission planning software for defense applications.
Contribute to software for modeling, simulation, and mission planning.
Help develop AI-enabled capabilities and efficient algorithms.
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and domain experts in a team environment.
Participate in code reviews, agile processes, and automated testing.
