Job summary

Pepper Construction offers a 12-week Summer Project Engineer Intern program in the Chicagoland area. You will work with a Project Manager or Superintendent, gaining hands-on experience in submittals, take-offs, budgets, meetings, site tours, and safety training.

We seek motivated college students studying construction fields who can collaborate in a team, communicate well, and manage multiple tasks while paying close attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Current college student entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year studying Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Engineering.
• Good communication skills - verbal and written.
• Strong computer skills that allow you to learn and understand new technology and put it into practice quickly.
• Confidence to work independently but desire to be part of a team and collaborate.
• Skilled at multitasking while keeping attention to detail.
• Reliable self-transportation to and from work-related activities and assignments daily.
• Ability to work in the Chicagoland area including far north and/or south suburbs.
• Able to participate in the 12-week program from Memorial Day to Mid-August in the Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

• Process submittals and take-offs.
• Potentially prepare budgets and attend job site/owner meetings.
• Participate in training sessions, jobsite tours and safety activities.
• Engage in intern project competition simulating bidding and winning work as a general contractor.
