Job summary

Pepper Construction is offering a 2027 Summer Project Engineer Intern position in the Chicagoland area. You will be paired with a Project Manager and/or Superintendent to gain hands-on experience across submittals, take-offs, budgeting, and daily job-site activities.

You’ll participate in training sessions, site tours, and an intern project competition that simulates bidding and winning work as a general contractor.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good computer skills and ability to learn new technology quickly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong multitasking while maintaining attention to detail.
• Reliable transportation to and from work daily.
• Willingness to work in the Chicagoland area.
• Available for the 12-week program from Memorial Day to Mid-August.

Responsibilities

• Assist with submittals and take-offs as part of project management.
• Potentially help in budgeting and attend job site/owner meetings.
• Participate in an intern project competition simulating bidding and contracting as a general contractor.
• Participate in training sessions, jobsite tours, and safety activities.
