Job summary

Pepper Construction Company in the Chicagoland area is seeking a 2027 Summer Project Engineer Intern to learn the construction industry hands-on. You will be paired with a Project Manager and/or Superintendent on one of our construction teams, gaining exposure to submittals, take-offs, budgets, and owner meetings.

The internship runs Memorial Day through mid-August in the Chicagoland area, with daily commute required and opportunities for training, site tours, and an intern project simulating

Qualifications

• Current college student entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year studying Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Engineering.
• Good communication skills - verbal and written.
• Strong computer skills to learn and apply new technology quickly.
• Ability to work independently but also collaboratively in a team.
• Reliable self-transportation to and from work-related activities daily.
• Must be able to work in the Chicagoland area including far north and/or south suburbs.
• Able to participate in the 12-week program from Memorial Day to Mid-August in Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing submittals and take-offs.
• Potentially assist in preparing budgets.
• Attend job site and owner meetings.
• Participate in training sessions and jobsite tours.
• Engage in safety activities and intern project competition simulating bidding and winning work.
