Job description

  • Assist with routine metallurgical and physical analysis and laboratory testing of material samples
  • Perform materials testing, standardization, and reporting in the metallurgical laboratory
  • Prepare reports and recommendations based on test analyses
  • Support process modifications and continuous improvement
  • Manage process and quality documentation, including error proofing, PFMEA, and Process Control Plans
  • Provide production and maintenance support and guidance in heat-treating areas, including technical troubleshooting, direction, and operator training
  • Establish and evaluate testing techniques and procedures
  • Support planning activities
  • Audit metallurgical processes against defined requirements, including CQI-9
  • Safely operate, verify calibration, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Conduct chemical, metallurgical, and physical tests using precision laboratory equipment
  • Approve material meeting established criteria and report exceptions
  • Maintain complete and accurate test records
  • Adjust technical processes based on test results
  • Maintain safety, housekeeping, and standardized work standards
  • Input raw information into results databases and provide analysis
  • Provide written reports of analysis
  • Interact with manufacturing database systems
Requirements
  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science Engineering
  • Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029

  • Comfortable with technology tools, including PCs, Microsoft Office, web-front databases, PLCs, CNCs, and robots

  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 sponsorship or related support
