Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an engineering student for a full-time internship/co-op in Arlington, TX. The role focuses on improving material flow, implementing new processes and equipment, and performing root cause analysis to enhance assembly and manufacturing performance.

The candidate will collaborate with production personnel, perform data analysis, and support safety initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in a plant environment. Graduation between Aug 2027 and Jun 2029 is required.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and graduating between Aug 2027 and Jun 2029.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Willingness to work in a plant environment and wear PPE.
  • Able to read standardized work instructions, operate machines/tools, and perform quality inspections.
  • Must be able to work in a loud manufacturing environment and lift up to 40 pounds.

Job description

  • Develop efficiencies in material flow
  • Support and define implementation of new processes and equipment
  • Conduct root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Provide technical support and direction to support personnel and skilled trades
  • Develop and support safety protocols
  • Ensure assembly processes run effectively for engine manufacturing
  • Work with team members on daily problem-solving and continuous-improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with hourly and salaried employees, production personnel, and maintenance personnel
  • Analyze data, determine root causes, develop implementation plans, and resolve issues affecting assembly, quality, or throughput
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to reduce cost and energy usage and improve quality
  • Propose and evaluate equipment processes in production areas
  • Communicate status and improvement opportunities
  • Coordinate input from internal and external customers to understand customer needs and perceptions
  • Keep abreast of product developments and trends
  • Identify learning opportunities and pursue development
  • Assign work to small or large groups of employees
Requirements
  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, Controls Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering/Materials Science, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Must be willing to work in a plant environment
  • Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections
  • Must promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
  • Must wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes
  • Must be able to work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled
  • Must frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
  • Must lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically up to 40 pounds
  • Must occasionally sit, climb ladders and lifts, and drive vehicles and equipment
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support
