Job summary

Green Chimneys seeks a Camp Counselor to provide a fun, supportive atmosphere where campers can grow and learn about the environment. You will develop relationships with each camper, promote positive interactions, and follow safety procedures under the Head Counselor or Camp Supervisor.

Applicants must be 18+, have one year of college or post-high school experience, and show enthusiasm for outdoor work with children.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have one year of college/post high school experience.
• Energy and enthusiasm for long days, outdoors, and working with children.
• Prior experience with children, teens or adults in similar settings is essential.
• CPR and Advanced First Aid are desired upon starting.

Responsibilities

• Create a fun, supportive atmosphere and build relationships with each camper.
• Promote positive group interaction and follow established procedures for health and safety.
• Work with other staff to plan and schedule weekly activities.
• Be a good role model and collaborate with Head Counselor or Camp Supervisor.
• Commit to at least six weeks during the summer and attend staff training week.

Job description

Status: Temporary/Seasonal (time/period specific)

The Camp Counselor will provide a fun,supportive and warm atmosphere where campers can improve their individualpotential, gain understanding of others, experience new ideas and develop anappreciation for the environment. This position must be a good role model forcampers, develop relationships with each camper within the group, promotepositive group interaction, follow established procedures for maintainingcampers health and safety, work together with other staff to plan and scheduleweekly activities, and other related duties as directed by the Head Counseloror Camp Supervisor.

Positions are available at both Hillside and Clearpool locations.

Must be at least 18 years of age and have one year of college/post high school experience. Energyand enthusiasm for long days, a desire to work with children outdoors, priorexperience working with children, teens or adults in similar setting, outdoorliving skills and/or environmental background, ability to accept guidance andsupervision, and a willingness to work with and learn from people fromdifferent cultures and backgrounds are all essential skills for this position. CPR and advanced First Aid are desired upon starting.

Must be available to work a minimum of six weeks during the summer(June 28 th – August 27 th ) in addition to attending stafftraining week (June 21st-26 th ).

Salary: Startingrate of $85 per day.

*International applicants’ salary is basedon sponsoring agencies pocket money agreement and/or experience. Stipend rangebetween $1200 - $2700 for the summer season. Room and board is also provided tointernational staff for the duration of the season.
