Job summary

Green Chimneys is seeking a Summer Junior Camp Counselor to provide a fun, supportive and warm atmosphere where campers can grow, learn teamwork and explore the outdoors. You will model positive behavior, build relationships with each camper, and assist staff to plan weekly activities while upholding health and safety procedures.

Must be at least 16, ready for long days, outdoor work, and interaction with diverse groups. Availability June 28–August 27 plus training weeks in June and May.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Desire to work with children outdoors.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and able to handle long days.
• Experience with children, teens or adults in similar settings.
• Outdoor living skills or environmental background preferred.
• Able to accept guidance and supervision and work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule weekly activities with staff.
• Promote positive group interaction and role-model behavior.
• Develop relationships with each camper.

• Collaborate with Head Counselor and Camp Supervisor on duties.

SummerJunior Camp Counselor

The Junior Camp Counselor will provide a fun, supportive and warmatmosphere where campers can improve their individual potential, gainunderstanding of others, experience new ideas and develop an appreciation forthe environment. This position must be a good role model for campers, developrelationships with each camper within the group, promote positive groupinteraction, follow established procedures for maintaining campers health andsafety, work together with other staff to plan and schedule weekly activities,and other related duties as directed by the Head Counselor or Camp Supervisor.

Must be at least 16 years of age. Energy and enthusiasm forlong days, a desire to work with children outdoors, prior experience workingwith children, teens or adults in similar setting, outdoor living skills and/orenvironmental background, ability to accept guidance and supervision, and awillingness to work with and learn from people from different cultures andbackgrounds are all essential skills for this position.

Must be available to work a minimum of six weeks during the summer(June 28 th – August 27 th ) in addition to attending stafftraining week (June 21 st -26 th ) and a Junior Counselorspecific training in May (dates TBD).

Salary:Starting rate of $65/day
This is a temporary not benefit eligible position.
