Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program in Manassas, VA. You will work with experienced engineers on design, field inspections, and reporting while learning the civil engineering trade and contributing to project goals.

The internship provides hands-on project work, mentorship, and exposure to transportation and municipal projects across Northern Virginia, with opportunities to participate in client meetings and design coordination.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong interest in design consulting and civil engineering practice.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; basic CAD/BIM familiarity helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of projects per code and IMEG standards.
• Research resources for commercially available equipment.
• Support client relations, project notebooks, and permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with architects, structural engineers, and others.
• Document design decisions, meetings, and instructions; monitor progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy prior to final checks.
• Prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and related tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet budgets and goals.
