Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program in Manassas, VA. You will work with experienced engineers on design, field inspections, reports, permits, and site drainage, gaining hands-on experience across transportation and municipal projects.

The internship runs 10-12 weeks with a 100% employee-owned culture. Mentorship, cross-functional collaboration, and exposure to real project work are central to the experience, with a path to potential full-time roles at IMEG.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required.
• Strong interest in design consulting and civil engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD software and BIM.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment.
• Assist with client relations, project design notebook activities, and documentation for permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final checks.
• Prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations as required by the contract services agreement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals within budgets.
