Ulteig Engineers, Inc. is offering a Civil/Transportation Engineering Intern opportunity in Minnesota.

You will support surface transportation and infrastructure teams with design, planning, traffic engineering, and field assignments, gaining hands-on experience across multiple disciplines. Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering, eager to learn, and able to work in both office and field settings during Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering or related field.
• Interest in transportation, roadway, municipal infrastructure, construction.
• Willingness to work in both office and field environments based on project needs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work full-time during Summer 2027.
• Permanent authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Support civil, roadway, transportation, traffic, and municipal infrastructure projects under guidance.
• Assist with the preparation of plans, drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Support design activities including roadway geometry, drainage, pavement markings, and utilities.
• Perform basic engineering calculations, data analysis, and quantity estimation.
• Assist with transportation planning, traffic studies, and data collection.
• Use GIS and other software to develop plans and exhibits.
• Review standards and incorporate requirements into deliverables.
• Participate in project meetings and coordination activities.
• Support field activities including construction observation and site assessments.
• Maintain project records and daily reports for construction administration.
• Communicate progress and observations with team members.
• Work in office and field environments and take on increasing responsibility.
