Job summary

Ohio State University offers a Student Nurse Externship for eight weeks during the summer for rising senior BSN students. Externs work with nurse preceptors on multidisciplinary teams at University Hospital, gaining hands-on care experience in diverse specialty areas and a learning-supportive environment.

Program runs May 24 through July 17, 2027. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program, have completed junior year, maintain a 3.2 GPA, and submit a 250-word essay plus

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited BSN program and have completed your junior year.
• Maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
• Write a 250-word essay describing how the externship could influence the transition from student nurse to professional nurse.
• Provide school transcripts or advising report.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities are moderately technical or complex and have a high degree of responsibility and judgment.
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and ability to work in a professional environment.
• Ability to work with and communicate effectively to direct activities to other students' employees.
• Requires significant amount of specialized training or experience.
