Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is offering an Instrumentation & Controls Engineering internship with a Summer 2027 start. You will work on power plant and oil/gas facility projects under senior I&C engineers, developing P&IDs, I/O lists, and control system specifications.

The role emphasizes application of I&C principles, collaboration in a team, and in-office work three days per week as part of a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with emphasis on control systems.
• Apply I&C engineering principles to project design deliverables and problem solving.
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel and Access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience collaborating in a team environment.
• Demonstrates exceptional work habits and a resourceful attitude.
• Enrollment in ABET-accredited program is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design of process control systems and procurement specifications for I&C equipment.
• Develop I&C design deliverables: P&IDs, I/O lists, control panels, cause & effect matrices.
• Prepare location plans and network architecture concepts.
• Work under the supervision of senior I&C engineers on project teams.
• Participate in mentoring sessions and on-the-job training to grow technical skills.
