Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician III to join our SUE Services team in Virginia. This role involves designation of utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies, coordinating survey work, and supervising field crew to ensure safe, accurate data collection.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with EM/geophysical designation methods, can work outdoors in varied weather, and may travel or work nights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of talented individuals to help tackle a wide variety of projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings and highway design plans.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads on project needs and requirements.
• Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
• Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic.
• Call “One-Call” tickets.
• Coordinate survey work in relation with SUE.
• Supervise activities of field crew.
• Train junior crew members.
• Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and communicate/coordinate with utility companies and clients.
