Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Houston, TX seeks a Senior-level SUE Technician II to lead field activities, map utilities, and support design teams with precision in demanding environments. Responsibilities include coordinating crew, reading utility records, operating vacuum excavation equipment, and ensuring safety and accuracy on diverse infrastructure projects.

Willingness to travel, lift up to 80 lbs, and adapt to outdoor conditions are required; pre-employment drug screen and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years using electromagnetic and geophysical designation technologies.
• Experience with vacuum excavation preferred.
• Ability to quickly grasp new technologies.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
• Strong reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
• Ability to walk long distances and lift up to 80 lbs.
• Clean driving record and safe driving skills.
• Safety-focused mindset with pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Lead field activities with a team to tackle diverse projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-builts, and highway plans.
• Designate existing utilities using EM and geophysical tech.
• Operate vacuum excavation truck and expose utilities.
• Apply appropriate maintenance of traffic and coordinate survey work.
• Supervise field crew activities and train junior members.
• Represent Colliers in the field and coordinate with utility companies.
