Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Phoenix, AZ seeks a SUE Technician II to map and protect utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical methods. You will work with senior staff and engineers to identify conflicts, operate vacuum excavation equipment, and coordinate field survey activities on diverse transportation projects.

This role requires outdoor work across various weather conditions, travel as needed, and a focus on safety and precision in utilities designation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 year experience using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.
• Ability to grasp new technologies quickly.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
• Good reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to tackle a wide variety of projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as‑builts and highway design plans.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Operate a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
• Use traffic control measures as appropriate and coordinate survey work with SUE.
• Supervise field crew activities and train junior members.
• Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and coordinate with utility companies.
