Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Houston, TX is seeking a SUE Technician II to lead field activities, map utilities, and apply electromagnetic and geophysical techniques to identify conflicts. You will operate vacuum excavation equipment and supervise a field crew, coordinating with engineers and utility owners to support safe, early conflict detection.

The role requires field readiness, the ability to travel, and a focus on safety and accuracy in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience using electromagnetic and geophysical designation technologies.
• Experience with vacuum excavation preferred.
• Must grasp new technologies quickly and learn software.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team on a wide variety of projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
• Utilize maintenance of traffic procedures as needed.
• Coordinate survey work with SUE.
• Supervise field crew activities.
• Train junior crew members.
• Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and coordinate with utility companies.
