Position Purpose

If you are looking to start or continue your career in the Subsurface Utility Engineering/Utility locating industry in an environment that encourages professional growth and rewards hard work, the Geomatics group at McAdams is the place for you. Our Geomatics staff is immersed in an exciting, fast-paced working environment that performs work on diverse projects, including locally administered (municipal) projects, universities, NCDOT, private/commercial developments, and more!

Essential Functions + Responsibilities

• Perform SUE/utility locating on a variety of project types
• Support the Geomatics team with CAD and office-related responsibilities
• Utilize MicroStation Drafting, Geomatics Technology, Engineering Technology, or related fields
• Learn about different utility systems, their installation, and operation
• Operate equipment such as EM, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and vacuum excavation tools
• Represent McAdams professionally, demonstrating honesty, good ethics, and safe driving habits

Qualifications

• Experience in Land Surveying, Surveying, Surveyor, Party Chief, Crew Chief, Land, Instrument Operator, Rodman, SUE, or related fields
• Proficiency in MicroStation
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 1-2 years of survey experience
• Willingness to travel to various sites
• Willingness to learn and operate survey equipment such as total stations and GPS
• Experience working outdoors, possibly in extreme conditions
• Willingness to operate vacuum excavation trucks for utility locating
• Strong technical skills and traits such as process orientation, honesty, adaptability, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
• Ability to pass a drug test
