Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Trainee to learn the duties of a SUDP under clinical supervision. The role emphasizes direct counseling, screening, assessment, and coordination of care for adults, youth, and families affected by chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health issues.

During the internship, you will follow ASAM criteria, maintain documentation, participate in meetings, and complete required state and federal forms.

Qualifications

• Training to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP).
• Must follow supervisor instructions and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age groups served.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
• Identify and categorize age-specific needs (infant, adolescent, geriatric).
• Provide screening, evaluation and referrals to other programs in the community.
• Provide individual and group counseling for drug-related problems and mental health issues.
• Serve as co-case manager for a group of up to ten youth.
• Maintain records and submit reports to supervisors and authorities as required.
• Design, implement and evaluate individualized treatment plans based on ASAM criteria.
• Coordinate with staff and agencies to expedite treatment and continuum of care.
• Complete required forms and attend trainings; adhere to confidentiality and ethics.
