Job summary

Rocky Channels School System (AOS 98) is seeking dedicated substitute teachers to provide continuity of education in the absence of regular teachers across Boothbay Region Elementary School, Boothbay Region High School, and other district schools. You will deliver lesson plans, manage behavior, and foster a positive learning environment to support diverse learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) as required by Maine Department of Education.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and diverse student needs.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure continuity of instruction.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
• Engage students in learning activities and facilitate discussions to encourage participation.
• Provide support to students with diverse learning needs and adapt instruction as necessary.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and report any issues to school administration.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Uphold school policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
