Job summary

Regional School Unit 57 in Waterboro, ME is seeking a Substitute Teacher to continue educational programming in the regular teacher's absence. You will report early, review plans, and supervise students while maintaining classroom order.

The role requires flexibility to work with young people, strong communication with students and staff, and the ability to adapt to short-notice assignments, with compensation of $140–$150 per day.

Qualifications

• Ability, interest and flexibility in working with young people.

• To communicate and cooperate with students, community and school personnel.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school at least half an hour before school opens or as early as possible after being notified.
• Report to Building Administrator or School Administrative Assistant(s) to receive assignment, other duties, and substitute forms.
• Review and follow teacher's plans and materials.
• Maintain order in assigned classes and assist in supervising all students.
• Maintain student respect for school property, fellow students, and staff.
• Take attendance promptly in each class, and report any student not accounted for to the office.
• Leave significant information summarizing the day's activities.
• Notify the office immediately of any injured or ill student.
• Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Check with the office before leaving; leave completed forms with the office staff.
• Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

The employee must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to:

• Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
• Climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling
• Lifting 25–75 pounds, depending on student needs

Terms Of Employment

Salary, work year, and working conditions will be established by the RSU 57 School Board.

Compensation

$140-$150 per day
