The Substitute Teacher shall prayerfully help students, in the absence of their primary classroom teachers, learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.

Major Responsibilities

• Reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
• Utilize substitute lesson plans left by the teacher to ensure continued learning during times of absence
• Maintain a clean, attractive, well‑ordered classroom
• Enforce rules of conduct by keeping proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good learning environment
• Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner
• Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration
• Lead students to a realization of their self‑worth in Christ
• Know the procedures and instruct students in dealing with issues of an emergency nature including procedures for fire, storm, and lockdown drills
• Perform any other teaching‑related duties that may be assigned by the classroom teacher and/or administration

Qualifications

• At least 48 hours of college‑level coursework completed OR 5 years of professional work experience (preferred)

• Must possess the ability to observe details at close range required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and reading
• Must possess the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; possess the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound
• Must possess the ability to express ideas using the spoken word to convey instructions to students, parents, and other stakeholders accurately, loudly, and/or quickly
