Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and sufficient training to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
• Six (6) months of experience as a school bus driver is preferred.
• Possesses valid California DMV printout (within 30 days) and California Special Driver Certificate for school buses.
• Must have valid Class A or B license with passenger endorsement, S and air brake endorsements.
• Current DL-51 Medical Card and CHP-approved First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus along a designated route and pick up/discharge students according to schedule.
• Observe defensive driving practices and comply with traffic and student transportation laws.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus and during bus stops per district policy.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and report any mechanical issues; keep related records.
• Assist handicapped students with boarding and seating, using wheelchair lifts and safety restraints.
• Meet scheduled departure/arrival times and document logs and reports.
