Job summary

Inter-Lakes Community Action invites applications for a Substitute Nutrition Assistant in Watertown, SD. You will assist in meal preparation, coordinate with lead cook, and help deliver nutritious meals to seniors and children through congregate meals, Meals on Wheels, and Head Start.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, familiarity with food safety, strong teamwork, and the ability to follow instructions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional culinary or food service management certification is a plus.
Previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and maintaining high cleanliness standards are important.
Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Strong organizational skills and teamwork ability are essential.
Good communication and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are important.

Responsibilities

Review and prepare daily menus, ensuring meals are nutritious and on schedule.
Record types of special food items served to maintain compliance records.
Estimate and order food supplies, inventory, and equipment as needed.
Step in for the cook as needed to ensure continuity of service.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards; monitor temperatures and portions.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils; keep area clean and safe.
Assist in receiving and storage of inventory with proper dating.
