Exeter-West Greenwich Regional School District in West Greenwich, Rhode Island is seeking a Part-time Substitute Desktop Support Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade desktops, servers, and peripherals across the district. The role requires effective communication with vendors and end users, and the ability to work with minimal supervision on IT projects.

The ideal candidate will have a computer science background, experience in an educational setting, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Background in computer science or associated field with experience is required.
• Experience in an educational environment preferred.
• Background checks
• Candidates with degrees/ certifications preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and upgrade desktops, servers, printers, and computer peripherals.
• Must be able to consult with vendors for support and upcoming projects
• Work with minimal supervision on projects and assignments
• Provide customer service to end users in a professional and courteous manner
• Provide support for network & client applications
• Create and maintain computer/ server images
• Complete warranty repairs for the district
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Must be able to prioritize and execute all duties when assigned
• Should be able to communicate in a written and oral manner
• Ability to communicate effectively with all departments within the organization
• Must be able to lift district IT equipment
• Ability to give presentation or trainings
• Ability to travel throughout the district and be available when needed
• Make recommendation to the IT supervisor
• Make recommendation for ordering parts and software
• Maintain inventory/ licenses for hardware and software
• Ability to learn new systems, software, and other essential needs for the district
• Attend trainings and seminars
• Provide backup and emergency support for systems when needed
• Perform additional duties/ responsibilities as necessary
