Job description

Join to apply for the Substitute Cook role at TRI-CAP.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide healthy and nutritious meals to children, staff, and volunteers of Head Start.
  2. Direct the preparation of approximately 20-100 meals daily, adhering to USDA, Head Start, and other relevant nutrition standards.
  3. Serve meals that are high in nutrients and low in fat, salt, and sugar.
  4. Maintain accurate records, including milk inventory, program expenses, cleaning schedules, food allergies, and serving methods.
  5. Follow correct food preparation procedures, including temperatures, portions, and serving methods.
  6. Prepare meals from scratch, limiting processed foods.
  7. Ensure meals are prepared on schedule, food is held at proper temperatures, and portions are adequate.
  8. Use initiative and creativity in seasoning, estimating amounts, and presenting attractive food.
  9. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and equipment.
  10. Wash dishes and utensils as needed.
  11. Maintain confidentiality regarding staff and family information.
  12. Fulfill the role of mandated reporter as per Child Abuse and Neglect Policy.
  13. Occasionally fill in for other teachers at different sites as needed.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience in food service.
  • Preferred ServeSafe or equivalent certification.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
