Position Summary:

Able to perform the essential functions of kitchen staff positions on an as-needed basis.

Functions Of The Job
Essential Functions Production
  • Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at the required temperature. Stock milk coolers for service.
  • Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Plan and prep for upcoming menus.
  • Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
  • Organize inventory stock and practice FIFO procedures. Keep coolers and storage racks clean.
  • Maintain dishwashing area, monitor chemical usage, and ensure equipment is in good condition. Store clean dishes appropriately.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare baked goods as per the menu and present them appealingly.
  • Batch cook to ensure quality and presentation.
  • Set up and restock serving/bar lines, ensuring proper food temperatures.
  • Serve items with appropriate sizes and utensils, maintaining quality and hospitality standards.
  • Ensure serving lines and condiments are stocked and presentable.
Compliance
  • Follow menu and recipes precisely.
  • Use standardized recipes for consistency.
  • Recognize reimbursable meals and adhere to Meal Pattern regulations.
  • Maintain accurate production records.
  • Follow HACCP procedures and record food temperatures.
  • Obey safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Promote Opaa!'s Core Values.
  • Comply with timekeeping policies.
Administrative
  • Handle customer payments and operate POS systems, ensuring only reimbursable meals are processed.
  • Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliations daily.
  • Record work hours accurately.
  • Notify supervisors in advance of shift absences, and communicate emergencies promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach.
  • Occasionally exert over 60 pounds of force; frequently lift/carry/push/pull objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include focus, depth perception, color vision.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred; or up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination.

Skills

Ability to read, write, and present information effectively; perform basic math; apply common sense to instructions; work with standard equipment.

Equipment

Includes dishwasher, steamer, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer, thermometers, gauges, knives, meal software, PCs, and communication devices.
