Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking a Substations Protection & Control Engineer to work in our Indianapolis, Indiana offices. The role covers design and implementation of substation P&C for 13.2kV to 345kV, with opportunities for all experience levels.

The engineer will develop designs, calculations, and studies, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver reliable protection and control solutions for our customers and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
• Working understanding of power system symmetrical components.
• Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.
• Strong command of English with written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• AutoCAD software skills are preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration or plan to become registered is preferred.
• Prior utility or consulting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete substation protection and control designs including panel arrangements and wiring.
• Detailed analysis of existing protection schemes to identify weaknesses and propose improvements.
• Develop cable schedules and bill of materials.
• Application and interconnection of SCADA and communication systems within the substation.
• Relay settings calculations and system coordination studies.
• Create and analyze transmission and distribution relay settings and logic diagrams.
• Coordinate design activities with multi-discipline project teams.
• Support AES Indiana representation to the public and customers.
