Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to work on design and implementation of substation projects from 13.2kV to 345kV at our Indianapolis office. All levels considered; compensation will reflect experience.

The role involves developing designs, performing studies, and collaborating with project teams to deliver reliable, code-compliant solutions for our customers and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
• AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration or plan to become registered is preferred.
• Prior electric utility project experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design activities with multi-discipline project team members.
• Develop and review substation designs, calculations, and studies.
• Create and review electrical and civil drawings, BOMs, and schedules.
• Assist with equipment procurement and field support.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards and project constraints.
