Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking a Substations Protection & Control Engineer to join our Indianapolis, Indiana offices. The role involves design and implementation of substation P&C for 13.2kV to 345kV projects, with responsibilities across calculations, studies, and relay panel wiring.

We welcome candidates with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a strong English communication, and familiarity with AutoCAD; PE registration is preferred and prior utility experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Understanding of power system symmetrical components.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• AutoCAD experience is preferred; PE registration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Complete substation protection and control designs including panels, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring.
• Analyze existing protection schemes and propose improvements.
• Develop cable schedules and bill of materials.
• Apply SCADA and communication systems within substations.
• Perform relay settings calculations and coordination studies.
• Create transmission and distribution relay logic diagrams.
• Review fault events and recommend remedial actions.
• Coordinate design activities with multi-discipline teams.
• Support procurement and ensure schedules are met.
