Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking a Substations Protection & Control Engineer to support design and implementation of substation protection and control projects ranging from 13.2kV to 345kV in Indianapolis, IN. The role welcomes all experience levels and emphasizes delivering reliable solutions for customers and communities.

The successful candidate will develop P&C designs, perform studies, and collaborate with a multi-discipline team while ensuring adherence to AES standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.E.E. degree required.
• Strong understanding of power system symmetrical components.
• Ability to work in a team or independently.
• Excellent written and oral communication; fluent English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Professional Engineer registration or plan to become registered preferred.
• Prior utility or consulting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete substation protection and control designs including panel arrangements and relay wiring.
• Analyze protection schemes to identify weaknesses and propose improvements.
• Develop cable schedules and bill of materials.
• Interconnect SCADA and communication systems within the substation.
• Perform relay settings calculations and system coordination studies.
• Review fault events and recommend remedial actions.
• Coordinate design activities with multi-discipline teams.
• Represent AES Indiana to the public and customers.
