Job summary

WSP USA invites students to apply for the Full-Time Substation Structural Engineering Intern position based in Billings, MT. The internship is part of a 12-week Summer Internship Program and requires enrollment in an Undergraduate or Graduate Civil Engineering program.

Locations include Billings, MT, Overland Park, KS, and Lakewood, CO. Start date around May 18, 2026, with some flexibility for individual schedules.

Qualifications

Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
Must be 18 or older.
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Demonstrated interest in Civil Engineering and desire to develop skills related to WSP's projects.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.

Responsibilities

Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Apply principles of Structural Engineering to design structures and foundations for substation equipment.
Assist with project research, field work, and design calculations and analysis.
Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and safety policies.
