Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Substation Structural Engineer for our Dallas, TX office with consideration for Tampa, FL. You will contribute to planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for electrical substations, including steel structures, rigid bus supports, and foundations.

You will work with cross‑functional teams to meet project goals and client standards. The role requires 3–5 years of post‑education experience, an Engineer in Training certification, and knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in structural engineering for substations and foundations.
• Engineer in Training Certification is required.
• Knowledge of steel and concrete design, codes, and standards.
• Experience with structural analysis software (RISA-3D, STAAD Pro).
• Ability to interpret standards and apply to deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering work for electrical substation projects.
• Prepare calculations, criteria, and packages meeting client standards.
• Develop construction specifications and cost estimates.
• Produce and review drawings and fabrication documentation.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, geotechnical, and construction teams.
• Utilize analysis tools to size structural systems and foundations.
• QA/QC deliverables and assist with project reporting and coordination.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction phase.
• Mentor junior team members and uphold safety policies.
