Job summary

Quanta Services, Inc. / Southern Electric Corporation, a Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE:PWR) company, seeks a Senior Safety Specialist to support Transmission and Distribution projects in the Electric Utility Industry. Substation exposure is emphasized and travel to field sites is expected.

The role focuses on implementing programs to reduce injuries and losses, coaching crews, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and field standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent.
• Ten years of safety experience, with at least five in Electric Utility (Transmission or Distribution).
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidance for field crews and management.
• COSS or CUSP certification preferred; OSHA 500 preferred; OSHA 30 required.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety in the field by coaching crews to avert incidents.
• Conduct field observations to ensure OSHA rules and utility safety standards.
• Lead investigations of near misses and accidents.
• Identify safety and quality concerns across project elements.
• Conduct site visits and participate in design constructability reviews.
• Ensure crews meet required safety training and procedures.
• Lead pre-construction/safety kickoff meetings.
• Perform safety stand-downs after concerns arise.
• Audit JSA/JHA and adapt to changing tasks.
• Set safe work expectations per OSHA and utility governance.
• Monitor contractor skills and hazard concerns.
